Understand what the choice means
Real describes a sponsor as the agent who introduced its model and, in the joining agent’s judgment, most influenced the decision to affiliate. Sponsorship is different from team membership. It is also different from buying a coaching product.
You can review your options with Real during the application process. An agent does not need to select a sponsor to evaluate or apply for brokerage affiliation.
Think about the conversations that influenced you
Consider who helped you understand the company and make an informed decision. Who explained the facts carefully? Who respected your questions and existing relationships? Who was candid about what needed to be verified?
A sponsor’s production history can provide context. It does not promise your future production. Look for a relationship that makes sense to you, rather than an earnings claim or an exclusive benefit.
Real’s rules prohibit offering coaching, leads, CRM access, rebates, or other valuable incentives in exchange for naming a sponsor. No such incentives are offered on this website.
Verify the details before signing
Read your application and Sponsorship Addendum carefully. Real’s guidance says the sponsor designation is not changed after the Independent Contractor Agreement is signed. Ask onboarding to resolve any uncertainty before that point.
- Confirm the intended name and email address.
- Respect the agent who originally influenced your move.
- Ask Real about co-sponsorship when more than one relationship is involved.
- Keep any team selection separate from your sponsor decision.
